With effect from 1 July 2015, The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) integrates and enhances the Integrated Building Maintenance Assistance Scheme (IBMAS) to tie in with the extension of its service area to the whole of Hong Kong. The URA introduces the Green Item Subsidy (GIS) under the "Common Area Repair Works Subsidy" to encourage property owners to use environmentally-friendly building materials and install energy-saving facilities when carrying out building maintenance and repair works, with an aim to benefit more property owners living in unsatisfactory living condition.
The Urban Renewal Resource Centre (URRC) of the URA provides building rehabilitation information and application assistance for owners within URA's service areas. The URA has also partnered with various non-government organisations in Central and Western, Yaumatei and Tsuen Wan to offer building rehabilitation supporting services to owners. The Integrated Building Maintenance Assistance Scheme covers 3 areas:
- Common Area Repair Works Subsidy
- Home Renovation Interest-free Loan
- Owners' Corporation Formation Subsidy
The URA will also handle applications of Building Maintenance Grant Scheme for Elderly Owners (BMGS) (administered by HKHS) and Building Safety Loan Scheme (administered by Buildings Department).
