Under rehabilitation, the URA will be working with owners, the Government and other partners to prevent the decay of the built environment by promoting and facilitating the proper repair and maintenance of buildings. Rehabilitation will extend the useful life of buildings to alleviate the urgency of redevelopment. To this end, the URA has introduced a range of measures including advisory, incentive loan, grant and insurance schemes to encourage owners to rehabilitate their buildings.

Building Maintenance Grant Scheme for Elderly Owners


The Financial Secretary announced in his 2008-09 Budget Speech the proposal to earmark $1 Billion as subsidy for the elderly in need to carry out maintenance or safety improvement works for their self-occupied properties in the next five years.
