URA to provide subsidised flats for sale

With respect to the announcement made by the Chief Executive in the 2015 Policy Address today (Wednesday) stating that the Government must actively explore ways to increase the supply of sale flats through a multi-pronged approach by engaging public or non-profit-making organisations including the Urban Renewal Authority (URA), the URA Board held a special meeting to discuss the matter this afternoon.

Speaking after the special meeting, Chairman of the URA, Mr Victor So Hing-woh, said: "The URA fully supports the policy initiative by the Chief Executive to increase the supply of subsidised sale units as announced in the Policy Address. The URA looks forward to playing a role in providing more property choices and home ownership opportunities for Hong Kong people."

The URA will actively explore the policy and implementation arrangements with the Government in the coming months.
