We recognises employees as being an important asset. To ensure a competitive remuneration to recruit and retain talents, we concurrently engaged external consultancy to conduct comprehensive remuneration review for all positions of Director level and below.

Aiming to foster the skills and knowledge for succession assessment and career development, new career ladders are being formed. In addition to the succession planning, new Management Trainee Programme by further refining the recruitment process and programme details was kick-off since 2017/18 for grooming new talents internally to sustain our operation and organization development.

Training and Development

URA focuses on our strategies of people to strengthen our staff’s capability to meet our future needs and support the sustainable growth of our city. The coverage of training topics is wide-spread and well-organized, including technology and innovation programmes to facilitate our staff members to learn more about the technological trend and echoing with the smart city development in Hong Kong, and functional know-how and core competence skills programmes for leadership, management and communication skills to boost staff whole-person development. 

During 2017/18, we have provided over 80 training programmes to our staff and the total training hours achieved 13,300 hours, while the average training hour is 25+ per staff.

Work Improvement Teams and Staff Suggestion Scheme

Top management devotes their time to listening to employee concerns through regular communication with different levels of staff through various channels. Work Improvement Teams and Staff Suggestion Scheme are in place as a collaborative platform for cross-divisions/ departments to advocate, develop, communicate and apply their ideas into work to promote a continuous improvement culture.

 

Cultivating an Inclusive Workplace Environment

URA Staff Club offers resources to improve staff's physical and mental health, URA runs an Employee Assistance Program and organises talks, seminars, sharing and workshops on stress management.  Further, in order to achieve work-life balance, other than implementing family-friendly measures, activities encouraging participation of family members are organised throughout the year.
