Project Engagement Programme

Project engagement

While it typically takes nine months or even more than a year after the commencement of redevelopment projects for the URA to make acquisition offers and arrange rehousing for affected residents and business operators following project approval, a special initiative called the ‘Project Engagement’ Programme has been implemented since October 2016. This programme aims to connect with residents through home visits, promoting better understanding of the projects and helping to ease their concerns and anxieties during the lengthy waiting period.

Under the programme, staff members of the URA actively engage with each household and business operators in the redevelopment projects and inform them about the latest updates on policies, compensation and rehousing arrangements. Tailored advice will be offered to address the specific circumstances or needs of individual household and business, such as reminding them to resolve any unclear property title issues as early as possible. Our staff members also follow up closely on cases that have special needs and, if necessary, refer them to social workers and relevant government departments for assistance.

To help the affected residents and business operators understand URA's policies, in addition to distributing bilingual pamphlets and leaflets in Chinese and English, we have also produced some simple and easy-to-understand ‘Smart Tips’ leaflets with attractive graphics and illustrations available in Chinese, English, Indonesian, Nepali, Urdu, Punjabi, Tagalog, Thai, Hindi, and Vietnamese, for the ethnic minority groups to learn about the latest compensation and rehousing arrangements.
