The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (29 May 2025) welcomes the Government's appointment of Mr Donald Choi Wun-hing as Managing Director of the URA for a term of three years with effect from 15 June 2025.

The Chairman of the URA, Mr Chow Chung-kong, said, "Mr Choi is a professional architect and business executive with over 40 years of experience in the field of architecture and property development.  His achievements over the years are highly regarded.  Mr Choi has also been active in community services, holding multiple roles in professional bodies and NGOs in the areas of architecture, innovation and the community.

The URA is a statutory body tasked with improving Hong Kong’s living conditions and built environment by regenerating old urban areas.  I am confident that Mr Choi will further the URA’s mission to improve the living environment in Hong Kong while ensuring its financial sustainability.  I very much look forward to working with him.”

Mr Chow also expressed his appreciation to Ir Wai Chi-sing for his contribution in the past nine years as Managing Director.

“Ir Wai, with his expertise and foresight, has led the URA to adopt a holistic 'planning-led' and 'district-based' approach to urban renewal.  Under his direction, the URA has advanced several large-scale renewal projects, preserved and revitalised historic buildings, and launched a number of initiatives to assist property owners in refurbishing and maintaining their buildings in optimal condition.  He has brought innovative ideas in commencing a series of strategic studies to further urban renewal in Hong Kong in a sustainable manner.  His contribution is highly valued,” Mr Chow said.

On behalf of the URA Board, Mr Chow thanks Ir Wai for his dedication and service to the URA, and wishes him a healthy and happy retirement.
