URA Fully Supports 2025 Legislative Council General Election
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) fully supports the 8th Legislative Council General Election (the General Election) scheduled for 7 December, 2025.
The upcoming General Election is the second since the improvement of the electoral system of the SAR and is vital for promoting Hong Kong’s development, economic growth and enhancing people’s livelihood.
As a statutory body committed to advancing urban renewal and upholding corporate social responsibility, the URA will promote and encourage its staff members and their families to vote on election day through various means. This supports their civic rights and obligations and demonstrates commitment to Hong Kong’s development by electing candidates who can effectively represent them.
The SAR's improved electoral system makes the Legislative Council more representative, inclusive, and diverse in perspectives. The nomination period for the 8th Legislative Council General Election opens tomorrow, 24 October 2025. The URA calls on outstanding individuals from across sectors and professional groups, as well as high-caliber and enthusiastic citizens from all walks of life who love our country and Hong Kong, to seize the opportunity to run for seats on the Election Committee Constituency, Functional Constituencies, and Geographical Constituencies. By doing so, they can contribute to good governance, economic development, and improvements in people’s livelihoods in Hong Kong.
