New Arrangements for Carriageway Closure at Yue Man Square and Tung Yan Street in Kwun Tong Starting 28 June

To facilitate the underground utilities diversion works for the final phase of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA)’s “Kwun Tong Town Centre 2.0” (KTTC 2.0) project, the carriageways of Yue Man Square and Tung Yan Street will be closed from 00:00 midnight on Sunday, 28 June 2026.  New arrangements for public transport services passing through the area will take effect from that time.

To help the public familiarise with the new public transport arrangements, the URA will display in advance relevant information at key locations in Kwun Tong Town Centre starting tomorrow (31 May 2026).  Meanwhile, ambassadors will be deployed on site for a period of one week before and one week after the closure to assist the public.

To expedite the KTTC 2.0 project, the URA is undertaking advance diversion works for the underground public utility pipelines where carriageways at Yue Man Square and Tung Yan Street will be closed.  As a result, 18 bus routes, two green minibus routes, and the cross-boundary coaches at Yue Man Square will be re-routed; whereas the existing taxi stand will also be suspended.

The URA has been coordinating closely with relevant Government departments and public transport operators to ensure smooth operation of public transport services following the closure and diversion.  The bus and minibus operators have adjusted their original routes with new locations of the stops, as shown below:

  1. Yue Man Square Public Transport Interchange (YM2 PTI)
  2. Kwun Tong Road (westbound) near Tsun Yip Lane
  3. Mut Wah Street (westbound) – near the exit of YM2 PTI
  4. Hip Wo Street (northbound) – near the entrance of Tung Yan Street

Taxi passengers can make use of the four existing pick-up / drop-off points near the project site.  Cross-boundary coaches will be rerouted to pick up and drop off passengers at the same stop within the YM2 PTI.

A temporary pedestrian walkway at the mid-section of Tung Yan Street will be opened to facilitate public access between the new bus and minibus stops on Hip Wo Street and the MTR Kwun Tong Station; some sections of the footpaths at Yue Man Square and Tung Yan Street will remain open during the works, allowing pedestrians to travel between MTR Kwun Tong Station, YM2 PTI, Hip Wo Street, Mut Wah Street and Hong Ning Road.  For details of the above arrangements, please refer to the attached map.

From tomorrow, banners and posters will be displayed at various locations in Kwun Tong Town Centre.  Videos introducing the new arrangements will also be available online for viewing.  From early June, members of the public may also obtain information leaflets at designated locations, including YM² shopping mall and the Kwun Tong District Office.

For the two-week period before and after the closure (i.e. from 21 June to 6 July), the URA will deploy ambassadors at major junctions in Kwun Tong Town Centre, affected bus stops, and near the bus gates of the YM² PTI to distribute information leaflets and answer enquiries about the new arrangements.  Members of the public may check bus route information via the mobile applications of the bus operators, or call the URA hotline on 2588 2333 for enquiries on the underground utilities diversion works.
