Ambassadors in green and white vests will be stationed daily from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm at major junctions across Kwun Tong Town Centre from 21 June to 6 July 2026, distributing information leaflets and assisting the public with enquiries regarding transport and traffic arrangements.

Two Traffic Enhancement Measures to Be Implemented Following Carriageway Closure at Yue Man Square and Tung Yan Street

The carriageways of Yue Man Square and Tung Yan Street in Kwun Tong will be closed starting at midnight on Sunday (28 June 2026) to facilitate the underground utilities diversion works for the “Kwun Tong Town Centre 2.0” (KTTC 2.0) project of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA).  In addition to the carriageway closure arrangements and the relocation of bus and minibus stops announced at the end of last month, two traffic enhancement measures will be implemented concurrently with the road closures to alleviate potential traffic pressure.

The two enhancement measures are:

  1. The traffic signals at the minibus ingress and egress near the Yue Man Square Public Transport Interchange (YM2 PTI) on Hip Wo Street will be optimised to permit minibuses exiting the interchange to make a direct right turn onto Hip Wo Street southbound.  This arrangement will help reduce traffic flow on Mut Wah Street and shorten the journey time of several minibus routes.
  2. A bus-only lane has been introduced at the signal-controlled junction of Hip Wo Street southbound and Mut Wah Street to enable buses travelling southbound on Hip Wo Street to turn right into Mut Wah Street without detouring via the Hoi Yuen Road roundabout, thereby alleviating traffic pressure at the roundabout.  The URA and bus operators conducted trial runs of the dedicated lane in late April and carried out operational testing at the newly established westbound bus stop on Mut Wah Street. Results of the trials indicated that the junction operates smoothly.

In addition, the Transport Department will suitably adjust the traffic signal settings in the vicinity following the road closures to streamline traffic flow.  The Police will also step up traffic management during the initial phase of the road closures.  The URA will closely liaise with relevant departments to monitor the traffic conditions and the operation of public transport services after the road closures, and will implement appropriate adjustments as necessary.

Public Transport Information Service Ambassadors arranged by the URA have also commenced service on 21 June 2026, distributing information leaflets and answering enquiries from the public on transport arrangements and the aforesaid traffic measures at major junctions in Kwun Tong Town Centre, including Kwun Tong Road, Yue Man Square, Hip Wo Street, Mut Wah Street and Hong Ning Road, as well as at YM² shopping mall and its entrances/exits.

Members of the public may also refer to large banners and posters displayed within the area, or view online videos, to learn more about the new public transport arrangements.  They may also obtain relevant bus route information through the mobile applications of bus operators.
