Yue Man Square Public Transport Interchange of URA’s Kwun Tong Town Centre Project commences operation tomorrow

The Yue Man Square Public Transport Interchange (PTI) at the Development Areas 2 and 3 of the Urban Renewal Authority’s (URA) Kwun Tong Town Centre Project will commence operation tomorrow (2 April).  Termini and en-route stops for eight bus routes and 21 green minibus and red public light bus routes currently at Yue Man Square area will be relocated to this new PTI equipped with multiple innovative and smart features.

The URA will work with various government departments, bus and public light bus operators from the early hours of 2 April to relocate the bus and minibus stops.  The existing bus and minibus stops concerned will be temporarily closed after the departure of the last bus and minibus.  Relocation notices will be posted to guide passengers to the Yue Man Square PTI for the relocated routes, with the first scheduled bus to depart at 5:30 am on 2 April.

The new PTI is connected to four major streets of the area including Hip Wo Street, Mut Wah Street, Hong Ning Road and Yue Man Square with 10 pedestrian entrances and exits, which are further connected with the 24-hour public passageway of the shopping mall “YM2”, facilitating public access to the PTI from different locations in the vicinity.

AI sensor-controlled boarding gate system at the bus terminus

The PTI is equipped with multiple innovative and smart features, including Hong Kong’s first indoor air-conditioned bus waiting area that separates passengers from vehicular traffic, AI sensor-controlled boarding gate system at the bus terminus, locally-developed Air Induction Units installed at the minibus terminus to enhance ventilation, and reservation of space for the installation of three fast-charging facilities for electric public light buses.  The Yue Man Square PTI could possibly be the first terminal in Hong Kong providing charging service for public light buses in the future.

Also, YM2 is fully covered with 5G mobile network. Public can connect to the high-speed Wi-Fi network to receive bus schedule notifications and browse up-to-date transport information.  Barrier-free facilities such as accessible toilets, lifts and tactile guide paths for the visually impaired are provided in the shopping mall. Guide dogs are also welcomed.

The URA will arrange around 40 service ambassadors at multiple entrances and exits of the PTI, the area around MTR’s Kwun Tong station and the Yue Man Square to direct passengers. Pamphlets printed with QR codes will be distributed to introduce to the public arrangement of the bus and minibus routes, locations of the PTI’s entrances and exits, as well as other relevant information (see the attached photos).

To provide public transport operators ample time to adapt to the new routing and traffic diversions in the Yue Man Square area, car park of YM2 will not be in operation during the early period of PTI operation, in order to reduce the traffic volume at Kwun Tong town centre area.  Subject to traffic conditions in the area, YM2 ’s car park is tentatively scheduled for opening in late April. Members of the public can call the Yue Man Square Management Company Limited at 2567 0008 for enquiries.
